Parcels of Essential Items
More than 1 in 4 children in Brighton & Hove are growing up in poverty.
We help alleviate the extreme stress this can cause for families by gifting essentials to pregnant mums, babies, and children up to 16 years old.
Our carefully packed parcels provide the basics for a child whose family is struggling to afford the essentials. Each parcel includes a week’s worth of clothes, including shoes, underwear, and coats; plus, a toy and a book to bring joy and help with social and cognitive development. Often, we are asked to include toiletries such as toothpaste and shampoo; or for babies we are asked for weaning packs, bottles, formula, and nappies.
Through our community’s generous donations of items, we help ensure local children aren’t having to wear shoes with gaping holes or are too small for growing feet; that they have warm and waterproof coats and clothes that fit; that parents don’t have to choose between buying toothpaste or soap.
Our Vision
Our vision is a community in which all families and carers have the essentials they need for their babies and children. By taking new and pre-loved donated items from families that no longer need them, and gifting them to families who do, we believe we can make this vision a reality.

I want to thank you for all the items you brought for us yesterday through Pelican Parcels. I want you to know that we truly appreciate your kindness with all of our hearts. These items will really be of so much help to our family.
It was more than I ever thought I would receive…I’m a young mum and I’m not working…I had nothing for the baby! I plan to donate once my baby has grown out of his clothes.
