As we operate through a referral process, referrals must be completed by the professional supporting the family. There is no limit to what can be requested or how many times a family can receive support, as children’s needs change over time.

We will do our best to fulfil requests as quickly as possible. For expectant parents, parcels are typically prepared 3–4 weeks before the due date. We usually ask the referring professional to collect and deliver the parcel to the family. If this isn’t possible, please let us know and we’ll work with you to find an alternative.

Please bring your donations to our warehouse at Unit 1-2 Manor Industrial Estate, Newtown Road, Hove BN3 7BA. We’re open Monday to Thursday from 10am to 2pm, and on the last Saturday of every month from 10am to 12pm.

Please make sure your donations follow our quality standards: clean, safe and in a condition you’d be happy to give to your fussiest, best friend. We only accept essential items which can be regifted to any child. We cannot rehome items such as party clothes, costumes, outfits with messages (such as ‘I love daddy’) or cultural references such as country names or sports teams.

Unfortunately, we don’t have the capacity to collect donations.

Please do not leave donations outside, as we cannot regift items left outside. The donation box located outside our warehouse is for recycling only, so all items added to this box will be recycled and not donated to Pelican Parcels.

Thanks so much for your interest in our charity and offer of volunteering. We open spaces for new volunteers in September. Please email volunteer@pelicanparcels.org.uk to add your name to our waiting list.

We would be very happy to help you, however please note that as we work on a referral basis we need a relevant professional who is working with your family to help complete a referral form for or with you. This can be anyone from a health visitor, midwife or social worker, your school or nursery, children’s centres or foodbanks.

If you have none of these, you can get in touch with the Council’s Front Door for Families service, who will be able to assist you with a referral. The process is then very straightforward and there’s no assessment criteria, but we rely on a professional to ensure that we are helping those most in need and to ensure that families get other wrap-around support that might be needed.

Once we have a referral, we will do our best to fulfil it as quickly as possible. There is no limit to the number of times you can receive help as your children grow and your situation changes.

Our team will get in touch with you to let you know the parcel is ready for collection. You will have two weeks to collect the parcel during our opening times. If you cannot collect during this period, please get in touch with admin@pelicanparcels.org.uk to arrange a new collection date or cancel the request.
