Pelican Parcels provides practical support to families across Brighton & Hove by supplying essential items for babies and children aged 0–12.
Working with trusted referral partners such as midwives, schools, health visitors and community organisations, we prepare and deliver parcels of clothing, equipment and everyday essentials for families who need them most.
Our services are delivered through a number of focused projects, each designed to ensure children have the basics they need to feel safe, comfortable and ready to thrive:

Parcels of Essential Items
Essential Parcels
For families struggling to afford the basics, our Essentials Parcels provide practical support for children across Brighton & Hove.
Each parcel includes a week’s worth of clothing — such as coats, shoes, underwear and everyday wear — along with a toy and a book to support a child’s development and bring a little joy. Depending on need, parcels may also include toiletries, nappies, bottles or feeding items for babies.
This support helps ensure children have clothes that fit, warm coats for winter, and the everyday essentials many families are forced to go without.
In 2025 we delivered over 3,500 parcels to families across the city.

A Good Night’s Sleep Project
Helping Children Sleep Safely and Comfortably
Every child deserves a safe and comfortable place to sleep.
Through our Good Night’s Sleep Project we provide beds, cots, Moses baskets and bedding to children who would otherwise be sleeping on sofas, sharing beds, or sleeping on the floor.
Each bed comes with the essentials needed for a comfortable night’s sleep, including bedding, blankets and sometimes a teddy for comfort.
Because a good night’s sleep helps children feel safe, healthy and ready for school the next day.

Helping Children Feel Confident at School
School uniforms can be a significant cost for families already struggling financially.
Our School Uniform Project works with local schools to provide children with complete uniform parcels so they can attend school feeling comfortable and confident,
These packs can include shoes, shirts, trousers or skirts, jumpers, PE kits, school bags and basic stationery — everything a child needs to start the school day ready to learn.
In 2025 we supported hundreds of children across Brighton & Hove through this project.

We work alongside local food banks to ensure families with babies have access to essential items such as nappies, wipes and baby formula.
These everyday items can be difficult for families to afford, and without support parents may feel pressure to make them last longer than they should.
Through these partnerships we help ensure babies have the basic care they need during difficult times.

Supporting Early Learning Through Play
Toys and books are vital for children’s development and for building strong bonds between children and their carers.
Through our Play and Learn Project we partner with nurseries across Brighton & Hove to provide toys and books that families can take home and enjoy together.
Many of these items are later returned once children outgrow them so they can continue supporting other families.

Making Special Days Feel Special
Every child deserves something to celebrate.
Our Celebrations Project provides new gifts for children celebrating birthdays, Christmas, Eid and other special occasions so no child feels left out during important moments.
